North Belfast Interface Network /TASCIT (Twaddell Ardoyne Shankill Communities in Transition)
- updated 6/8/20
North Belfast Interface network was established in 2002 by community organisations to develop a strategic response to interface violence and develop community relations work in North Belfast.
'I undertook the ‘Challenging Conversations’ course which NBIN helps organise. It was my first time attending this sort of cross-community programme. I found it very positive. I have been to places I would have thought I would be scared to go to before. I really enjoyed learning and listening to people on the course whom I normally may not have associated with. Streetbeat is a youth centre open to young people in and around Woodvale.
Services normally provided
Drop-in, outreach, mentoring, group work, cross-community projects, OCN qualifications
Services provided during Covid 19 crisis
We have been using social media to continue to engage with young people. We are identifying the most vulnerable and will support them on a one to one basis. This can be done through mentoring or counselling.
We are trying to continue group sessions as much as possible but are limited in how long young people engage in online sessions at any one time. We will be starting running online OCN qualifications with groups as this should work quite well. We are also developing an online support app that young people can access information, support from Streetbeat services, as well as signposting to other specialist services.
We use our social media to put out weekly tutorials in cooking, baking, arts & crafts, and exercise. We also put out ways to support your mental health including mindfulness.
We will continue to try and develop new and creative ways of working with young people throughout this changing situation.
These services are open to any young people although we do have limited capacity as we continue to work with young people already engaged with Streetbeat.

Streetbeat Youth Centre - updated 20/4/20
